Ted Kaptchuk föddes 1947 i New York och utbildades sig först på Columbia College i New York och doktorerade sedan 1975 på Macau Institute of Chinese Medicine i Kina. Kaptchuk är sedan 1976 en efterfrågad föredragshållare, vilket han kombinerar med forskning och författande.
Kaptchuk bor sedan 1995 i Boston där han numera är Associate Director på Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center och Assistant Professor in Medicine på Harvard Medical School. Kaptchuk har bl.a. skrivit följande böcker: The Web That Has No Weaver (1983), Crocher M. The Healing Arts (1986), Healing as a Journey Together (1989).
Kaptchuk har också utvecklat produktserien Ka'n Herbals som finns i TCM nordics sortiment.
The Web That Has No Weaver finns i TCM nordics produktsortiment och är utan tvekan en av de bästa introduktionsböckerna till Traditionell Kinesisk Medicin. Den är betraktad som en klassiker inom TCM. Boken är mycket lämplig för nybörjare och förklaringarna är tydliga, kortfattade och logiska och används flitigt inom TCM-utbildningen.
